Where is the PCMCIA slot on my laptop?
- Your PCMCIA or PC-Card slot is generally located on the left or right
hand side of your laptop and will usually have two available locations
for cards to be connected. As you can see in the picture to the left,
the card is going into the laptop horizontally. The computer should make
a tone when you insert the PC Card into the slot. To eject the card press
the eject button or latch next to the PC Card. The card will eject a short
distance allowing you to remove the rest of it.
- Click the Windows Start button.
- Select the Programs folder (All Programs on Windows XP).
- Select the Air2Data or Air2Data Client folder.
- Click on the Air2Data Wired Client or Air2Data Wireless Client icon.
- Select Disable/Enable
and click Next. Follow the instructions.
- Click the Windows Start button.
- Select Settings > Control Panel (Or Control Panel on Windows XP)
- Click on the Add/Remove Programs Icon.
- Locate the Air2Data Wired Client or Air2Data Wireless Client program from the list and select it.
- Click the Remove (Or Change/Remove button in Windows 2000/XP) button.
- Follow the instructions.
- Follow the steps below or call our Technical
Support number.
- If you are using the Air2Data Wireless service follow the Wireless
instructions below. If you are using the Air2Data
Wired service follow the Wired instructions below.

Wireless Instructions:- Make sure the wireless PC Card has a solid
green light.
- Try rebooting your computer.
- Try changing your location in the room. Usually the wireless signal is better closer to the hall.
- If the card doesn't have a green light it may be disabled. See the "My card is disabled" section below.
- Make sure you were assigned
an Internet IP address.
- See the "Did I get an IP Address?" section below.
- Make sure you can talk to
the Default Gateway address.
- See the "Test the Default Gateway" section below.
- Make sure you can reach the
Internet.
- See the "Test for Internet Connection" section below.
- For all other problems please call
our Technical Support number.
Wired Instructions:- Make sure the PC Cards 10/100 light is on.
- If it is not try rebooting your computer.
- Try using a different Ethernet cable.
- The card may be disabled, see the "My card is disabled" section below.
- Make sure you were assigned
an Internet IP address.
- See the "Did I get an IP Address?" section below.
- Make sure you can talk to
the Default Gateway address.
- See the "Test the Default Gateway section below.
- Make sure you can reach the Internet.
- Make sure the wireless PC Card has a solid
green light.
- See the "Test for Internet Connection" section below.
- For all other problems please call our
Technical Support number.
- From the command prompt type in "ipconfig" and press the Enter key on the keyboard (See the picture below)
- The IP Address number should be in the range of 192.168.100.x. or 192.168.1.x
- The Default Gateway should be 192.168.100.1 or 192.168.1.1

- If you don't get an IP Address (it comes back as 0.0.0.0, or as 169.254.x.x)
or the Default Gateway isn't as shown, call our Technical
Support number.
- From the command prompt type in "ping
192.168.100.1" and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
- Where the 192.168.100.1 (or 192.168.1.1) is the gateway address listed in the picture above. (Your gateway address may be different, see the picture below)
- Your results should be similar to the results displayed below.

- If you get four (4) replies then you're connected to the default gateway.
- If you don't get four(4) replies then please call our Technical
Support number for more information.
- From the command prompt type in "ping www.air2data.com" and press the Enter key on the keyboard. (See the picture below)
- Your results should be similar to the results displayed below.

- If you get four(4) replies then you're connected to the Internet.
- If you don't get four(4) replies then the Internet at that location
may be down. Please call our Technical Support
number for more information.
- This may happen on Windows 2000/XP.
- Click on the Windows Start button.
- Select Settings > Control Panel (Or Control Panel on Windows XP)
- Click on the System icon.
- On Windows 2000/XP select the Hardware Tab and click on the Device Manager button.
- On Windows 95, 98, or Millennium select the Device Manager tab.
- Look for any items that show a red "X" through them. (See picture below.)

- See if the ORiNOCO PC Card (5 Volt) or SMC 8041TX (version V.2) card with a red X through it then please follow the steps below.
- On Windows 2000/XP right click on the card with the X and select enable.
- On Windows 95, 98, or Millennium go to the properties of the card with the X and select "Enable". (This may require you to reboot your computer.)
- Select OK or close the Device Manager window. (You may need to reboot your computer.)
- Follow any other instructions
above.
- Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block their outgoing email
servers from those not connected directly to them. This avoids spam attacks.
Because of this restriction, some guests may have trouble sending email
through their ISP. To avoid this problem, we recommend that you use a
Web based email service. If you do not have access to a Web based email
client or use want to use Outlook, Outlook Express or Eudora you can
set you outgoing SMTP email server to: mail.a2dhotels.com
